2006 - 2010 (Early Career)
After graduating from the University of Utah in 2006, Brandon spent three years as a Systems Admin and Developer for Ross Equipment Company. He also co-founded Apptys (äpp-tiss), a software development consulting agency, where he initially did development work for Gravitate Online, IFA, Two Man Movers, Master Muffler, and several others. In 2009, he was hired as a Magento developer at an online e-commerce startup, GreenPolkaDotBox.com, where he was instrumental in building the company’s Magento web store in preparation for a public launch.
2010 - 2013 (Full Stack Software Developer)
In 2010, Brandon was hired as a Full Stack Software Developer at Clearlink, where he worked for three years on internal software applications, such as the company’s CRM, sales order management system, and a software integration with the company's inContact phone system used by its 1200 internal sales agents. He also developed and maintained several API integrations with Clearlink's client partners, including ADT, Vivint, DirecTV, LifeLock, Verizon, and AT&T.
2013 - 2015 (Lead Software and DevOps Engineer)
Brandon continued to grow his side business from 2013 to 2015, adding several contract developers and taking on several monthly retainer software development contracts. He owned the project management and budgets, and was involved in development, dev ops, and also oversaw all client interaction on several projects for companies such as Camofire.com, BlackOvis.com, Core4Element.com, TiKR.com, Preparewise.com, GreenSmartLiving.com, Sports Authority, Heritage Action, and others.
2013 - 2014 (Tech Lead)
While Brandon was ramping up his business on the side, he was also hired full-time for a position as a Technical Lead at Guidance Solutions, a Los Angeles based development agency and Magento Gold Partner, where he architected software solutions and oversaw development teams for external Magento client projects.
In 2015, Brandon was hired by Cricut, where he spent time on the Platform engineering team working on back-end infrastructure, integrations, data, and RESTful API microservices that integrate Cricut's award-winning Design Space clients, mobile apps, Cricut iOT devices and machines, and other clients; then as the E-commerce Tech Lead, overseeing the team that supports its Magento e-commerce platform; and finally as a Senior Dev Ops Engineer, supporting release automation, continuous integration & delivery, site-reliability, security, and performance.
2018 - 2020 (Data Platform Engineering Team Lead, Senior Platform Software Engineer)
In 2018, Brandon joined Team Banjo, where he developed and maintained the engineering side of Banjo's data platform, including ETL and data ingestion pipelines. He worked with hundreds of millions of live data messages from over 150 diverse data sources. Brandon was also involved in developing platform microservices, including REST and GraphQL APIs, internal SOAs, and others.
And for the first six months in 2020, Brandon led a cloud-native Data Platform Engineering team in creating critical, low-latency data and ETL pipelines that enable data enrichment, ML analysis, and in-product features for Banjo's customer-facing products.
